USCarTool Chassis Kit + T56 Magnum Underside - Cuda
« on: May 30, 2016 - 02:06:19 PM »
Just sharing the underside of my car for those that might be interested in what necessary changes need to happen to clear a T56 Magnum. I also have a US Car Tool Chassis kit installed along with some additional 3"x3" forward rail-torsion bar cross member supports.

I like the 3x3" forward pieces.  Did you contour them to fit the floor pan?

I did not, they are plain 3"x3" 12ga square steel tubing parts, they are running parallel with the torsion bar.

Front and rear torque boxes look good.
Were they factory, or did you add them to the chassis?

Added, my lowly 318 car didn't get much help from the factory.

The expectation is the car will see road course and autocross time. Everything on a car can be tuned to some extent, but the chassis is a bit more difficult. I wanted to get ahead of that while the car is torn down.

Is that a homemade rotisserie knockoff? Any details on making one? Never seen one like that but I can really appreciate how useful it would be right now.

Yea, it's not much, but it sure worked well. Was able to go up/down myself, and I'm not a big fellow. I don't have any dimensions or drawings, it was all built on-the-fly in an afternoon.

Thanks for the additional pictures. I'm a young guy but laying under a car getting undercoat debris all over me isn't fun haha.

Didn't realize there was a reasonable alternative.

Sorry for clogging the thread up.

No worries, but I'll have you know that I did suffer on my back welding in all of the parts. It wasn't until I decided to undercoat the car that I built the rotisserie. Don't do it in that order!  :eek4: :smilielol:
