    what's better 180 or 195 thermostats?

    I did a search and cant find a clear answer to which is better a 180 or 195 thermostat.  This is for my stock 383.  Any help is appreciated. 

    Also, I found 195 part number Stant SuperStat Thermostats 45479 but cant find 180 part number.  This was through Summit.  Is the Stant SuperStat any better than regular Stant thermostat?

    For maximum power a coolant level around 180 will produce the best power.  Note that a 180 degree thermostat will not necessarily produce 180 degree coolant as as that depends upon your cooling system and ambient conditions.

    195 degree coolant will make a little less power but may give a bit better gas mileage and will produce less emissions if all tuning parameters are kept the same

    I just ran in the same story...  a 195 °F thermostat is only a good idea...if the rest of the cooling system is in perfect condition....
