Yes I'm using a 90 degree now and it touches the header. I saw accel plugs and they also sell wires with boots rated to 2000 degrees. I may put one on that plug and see how that works out.
last resort will be a dent
the 2000 degree rating is for radiant heat, and not contact, I suspect. If contact, will still burn and melt and catch fire, I suspect.
but, the 2000 degree boots might work if you use some header wrap also. Also, file down the spot on the boot that is connecting, but not too much.
