It's funny that Bill France was all about outlawing the Hemi engine in '65, the front spoiler in '69, and eventually the winged cars in '71.  I can't imagine how frustrated the Chrysler engineers must have felt.

It must have been a challenger for the engineers ..... the record books are full of victories for Chrysler all the while Chrysler was handicapped by the rule books with weight /aero /displacement etc  , the slaughter would have been far greater if it had ever been a level playing field !
 Look at SS/A & SS/AA anyone can compete there there are only 2 cars in the class LO Darts & Cudas

 I have pictures of the only 68 Charger 500 produced with round sidelights & taillights
