Rad overflow tank mounting and shroud questions-please help

Anybody able to shed some light on exactly where/how the plastic rad overflow tank on my 74 Challenger mounts? Does it mount on the actual shroud? It appears to go in the lft side and appears to want to squeeze between the battery tray and -what? Also, is there a known number for the correct shroud itself? The rad shop re-cored my rad ages ago and I'm wondering if they changed the tank straps as well since I have 2 different shrouds and neither looks to be right. This is a PITA that I don't need and since it's a 3 core rad, has anyone experience of running it without the shroud?

On my 74 Challenger/318/3spd stick. I originally had the small 19" (I believe) radiator. The overflow tank mounts to a bracket that mounts to the core support using the same radiator bolts. It actually extends/mounts the tank several inches away from core support. It has a bent flange on bottom with a hole in it that a nub on bottom of tank rests into. With 2 attaching screws to keep it in place.

I do not have it on car but will try to get a  pic of it and tank in the next couple of days if that will help.

Correct.  The shroud hole size is also important.  You want the blades as close to the shroud as possible for most effective cooling.  You have to take into account engine movement though.  A good rule of thumb is to make the hole 10% larger then the fan diameter.  If you are using an aftermarket fan, make sure to read what the manufacture recommends for their fan.
