"magnum 500" wheels?

I have a friend who has a set of Magnum 500 (14") wheels....with trim rings but no caps....the one trim ring I saw had a little curb rash.

Would it be heresy to use these as winter wheels on my sons 80 Volare?

Cool....though I was talking about the herest in using them in bad weather?   

Are they too valuable or hard to find etc ton use like that?

I think your son should find another car for bad weather but that's a different issue.  The Road Wheels aren't rare and don't usually bring a lot of money BUT, they can be hard to find without some damage to the lug holes.  The wheels are "lug centric" meaning that the wheel is centered by the lug nuts...not the center hole.  You will see a lot of wheels with ovaled lug holes.  I tried finding a replacement a few years ago.  The person I buy a lot of parts from had a whole rack of wheels but most all had damaged lug holes.

F-bodies look great with Road Wheels.  They are my favorite looking wheel.

There is really no demand for 14" wheels anymore no a lot of decent tire choices , so grab the wheels cheap & use them  really who are you going to save them for anyway ?
 I agree with using a different car for winter , the Volare looks decent

Life has been nutz.

Yeah its actually really nice. And it does bother me thinking of it being subjected to salt etc,.....but then I think the samething of ALL my vehicles..I get attached to them....but they were made to be driven.

Not really an option to get ANOTHER car.....already have more than our driveway can fit...LOL...and the insurance is starting to get rough especially with a new driver....

The Volare was the solution as far as a car for the kid....either had to get a 2000+ (year) something that we couldnt work on that we wouldnt care about driving year round and that would likely cost us $300 every time it had tpo go to the shop,  or an older car that we could fix ourselves for the most part....and this is what we found....

Thanks for the advice on the rims.....and especially the ovaling out of the bolt holes.....will look at that.

I , too, noticed its hard to find 14" tires.....but if we can find a good set for the winter maybe its a good solution?   Carlisle is in a week so we will watch for 15x7 steels I think and get those if we can.......and pass on the 14" road wheels.....just because there is more 15" stuff available.
