Working on pulleys on a 1968 440 engine that will have power steering.
I pulled a couple double groove crankshaft pulleys off-the-shelf that are two different sizes.
They're both off big block engines.
One double pulley has both the same size diameter grooves at what looks to be 6 1/2" or 6 5/8"?
The other has the larger front groove at about 7 5/16" and the smaller rear one.
All the double groove water pump pulleys I have appear to be the same size.
I took a quick measurement of the double groove crank pulley that's currently on another of my 440 engines, (1966) and it is also the smaller 6 1/2" double pulley with both grooves the same size.
I don't see any new (or used) stock type 6 1/2" double groove pulleys advertised for sale, just the pulleys with the larger front groove. Are these 6 1/2" pulley oddball or one year only pieces?
Is one pulley better to use with power steering on the 1968 440 than the other?
Thanks.
