71 cuda 340 ecu location etc

71 340 cuda, where does the ecu get mounted on firewall and should it have the off set bracket behind it?

ECU? My '73 had electronic ignition but I don't remember any ECU.

I believe some late 71's received electronic ignition.  340 cars maybe?  Unless you had to replace the firewall, there should be holes already drilled for the bracket.  If the firewall was replaced, look for dimples in the metal which would have shown where to drill.(not sure if aftermarket firewall would have those dimples though)

I do not believe any 71 had electronic ignition .

Electronic ignition was available as an option on 1971 340 cars. As Burdar  posted, the car gets the off set bracket as well.
There should be two dimples in your upper cowl if it's a later build 71.

Usually being associated with the 340's being painted blue as well :2cents:

Don't drill any holes!   :banghead:

you running a big-block?  If so, just get one of those brackets that fit on the back of the intake pan rail.  YOu can get them from Rocket Restorations.

Small block?  Just get a DUI distributor or a pertronix.  Or hide the ECU under the battery.
