Power Steering Pump

I am putting a power steering pump in my 70 Barracuda and and was wondering if some has a picture or diagram of how the brackets fit onto a 440 engine. This is what I have ( see picture ). Am I missing anything? Thx

On that site you can download manuals, I Was unable to upload the single page,

Illistration page 19-15 has diagram of the brackets, looks a little different than yours but shows two brackets.

mine off and barely notice a difference.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

I'm thinking of changing to manual steering also, is it ant easy swap, is it pull the power out , put the manual in with the manual steering column also?

About 23 years ago, I just picked up a manual steering box, and gave it to my mechanic.
I think the only other thing he had to do was change the pitman arm to make the swap.

Ok, pitman arm and I thought Ive read the length of the column is different.

The length of the steering column, or more correctly the main shaft is different.  There is an adapter you can by to mate up the two.

The size of the input shaft on the two boxes is also slightly different.  As such you will need a different coupler between the box and the steering shaft. T he above adapter will take car of that too.

The pitman arm may be different depending on what power box you have.  Manual boxes for all years have the same size pitman arm...the smaller size that early power boxes have.

Personally I like power over the manual, then again mine is a street cruiser!

Ill think about changing,also may take off the ac while at it.

Power steering is around a 15 to 1 ratio. Manual steering is 24 to 1. That means you'll be turning the steering wheel a lot more for the same amount of tire movement. Not the best thing for a performance machine except for going in a straight line. 20 to 1 and 16 to 1 boxes are available but the steering effort will be quite high. Unless every single hp counts(drag racing) then I'd stick with ps.

For regular trips to the track, where every tenth counts, manual is the only way to go.
But if you barely noticed a difference after the swap, there was something wrong with your ps setup or you are a seriously strong dude. Original ps setups were soooo over assisted you could turn the wheel with your little finger.
