Has anyone fit a 315/60r15 tire under the back of a 71 Challenger?

That is a lotta tire. It both wide and tall.

I have installed but not driven a 295/65r15.  At 30", this is the same diameter as your 315/60r15. With stock 4 count springs it sat up in the wheel well a bit and looked like it had potential to rub when the springs compressed. With XHD or SS springs, you may have enough rate and/or arch to keep it off the sheet metal. It lifts the car up quite a bit and if you are after the vintage drag race vibe, would be a  good stance. However, to  level out the car some you will need a very tall front tire as well as possibly needing to turn the t-bars up some.

I do have SS springs which I had re arched 2" over so the back sits up kinda high now.

I'd love to see a pic of it if you do it.  Love the look of huge back tires as long as they don't stick out beyond the upper fender lip.

I would think you need a b-body rear and +1-2" springs.
