Best coil for 440 Six Pack?

Hey gang,

Chryco was right, my bogging issue was a simple fix...the friggin coil! I got to 115 mph in short order with no bogging. Thanks for the tip...I'd have been chasing my tail thinking it was a fuel issue. The coil I just tested with is an older one, so I'm not 100% certain that I want to keep it in. Wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a good 6 Pack coil. I've heard a lot of people talk about the MSD coil. Good? Bad? Indifferent?

I generally install the MSD blaster with matching ballast resistor with good results. I'm sure there are other good choices out there as well.

DO not use a blaster mounted sideways it will leak & fail , if you use a Blaster it has to be the vibration one ,these are sealed better .
 Pertronics also has high out put coils as do many other companies

Good tip about the proper position for the different coils.

I run the MSD "High Vibration" Blaster Coil (for the last 13 years) on a Mopar M1 manifold Horizontally as:

The Blaster Coil is designed to mount in most factory canister coil mounts. MSD also offers a Chrome Coil Bracket, PN 8213. It is recommended to mount the PN 8202 and 8223 coils in an upright position. The High Vibration Coil, PN 8222, can be mounted in any position due to its epoxy potting compound.

Great info as always guys. Now, with the high vibration coil, do you need to upgrade the stock ballast resistor or plug wires? I'm totally fine to go with a normal repro cool too unless there is a really good reason not to.

After I get this solved, I just need to work out why the car is pinging and we're golden. It's a pretty stock rebuild  440 9.7 to 1 compression. When I back the timing of it starts and runs like hell.

You probably need a shorter timing curve in the dist so you have more initial timing without too much advance at top end . Most coils run with the same 7 v range so the same ballast would work .
4secondsflat.com has a limiter plate available or you can weld up the slots in your dist to do this also
