Thanks Man.  I just hope it helps someone along the way.

I finally have the tiem to play with it a little bit and I enjoy the process of trying to squeeze the best out of the combination.

I had the car out for a spin this afternoon, a quick spin on the highway and the car runs much better with the  larger 70 jets.

The lean flash is gone on the AFR meter and the car does not chug at all over 2500 rpm.  The AFR shows high 12s to mid 13s.

Around town the car runs good and the green cam seems to work well.

I did not get a change to test WOT from idle and see how it works, so I may make a few changes yet, but I am getting closer.

So Jason, what's it feeling "seat of the pants"  :burnout:
10% 20% better overall?

good question...hard to say.  The overall performance seems better.  if you are going down the road and hammer it, the car seems to pull much stronger then it did in the past.

At WOT from idle I am not sure yet.

In terms of an improvement on the highway at cruise, the 70 jets are 100% better then the 68 jets.  the 68 have a noticeable chug at anything over 2500 rpm.

New update...had the chance to take a nice long run in the car today...150 miles or so, mostly highway, with my 16 yo daughter riding shot gun which is always awesome!

I can not believe the difference in the 70 jets vs the 68s...the car runs so much better on the highway.  Pulls very strong at all rpms with no lug anywhere.  AFR meter reads high 12s to mid 13s depending on rpms.  Very happy with that set up.  When you get into the secondary's, the AFR meter shoes dead rich, into the 10s. No way I can address that right now, as I have the non adjustable plate and no jets.  Maybe a winter upgrade to the metering block with jets is in order.

The other end of the spectrum, WOT from idle I am not so happy with.  The green cam seems to create a huge flat spot ( I would not call it a bog) when you go WOT from idle. The is no noticeable stop in the revs, no lean spike on the AFR, the engine revs but very slow and the AFR meter shows very rich. Once you hit about 2000 rpm, the car takes off.  The reason I am tweaking the carb is to make sure I squeeze the most out of the current combo.  I think I should be able to spin the tires going WOT from idle every time.

So next step is to change out the pump cam to either the red or white, which provide less fuel over all as compared to the green, that should take care of the rich condition going WOT from idle.

I am also thinking of changing the timing up a little bit.  At highway speed, say 70 mph I am running about 2500 rpm.  My total timing comes in around 3000 rpm.  I think to total timing should be all in while I am running down the highway...but maybe I am wrong?!?!?!?

The adventure continues!

more timing earlier will help with cruise but it may ping with WOT , this is where vacuum advance may actually help
the flat spot below 2000 rpm may be more to do with cam than the carb , the cyliders are just not being filled efficiently at low rpm

Yeah, I think that may be the case. I am still going to try and tune it to get it the best I can.

I guess my options are change the cam, install better closed chamber heads or install a  higher stall Torque converter, which would mean a new non-lockup trans.

Oh well maybe in the future.

Todays update...happy driver today!

Switched the white cam and wow, what a difference.  At WOT from idle the car spins the tires and takes off pretty good.

There was a bit of a stumble at a few spots in the RPM range...but nothing serious.

So I tried the white cam in the #2 hole.  Well that really woke it up...no stumbles anywhere and the WOT from idle relaly takes off now.  I hit it about 3/4 throttle from a stop light,  and may did it spin...was not expecting that.  Very happy now.

Now I just need to find the dam coolant leak that sprayed down the whole engine bay!!!

Well thats was not a big deal. Top rad hose was leaking. I tried a new rad cap...18 psi and it looks like it was a little too much.

I repositioned the clamp made sure it was tight and put the old 16 psi cap on and no leaks after a spin today.
