I know this is an old thread, but I am working on installing the rear defogger/speaker adapter in my '72 Challenger.  Question: what is the audio quality of the speaker when it is mounted towards the rear (not under the speaker cutout on the rear shelf)?

Thanks.

What speakers do you plan to use?

Are you using a factory Stereo?

I have a factory AM/FM radio in mine. Does it sound good like today's?
Heck No!

It sounds like a radio in 1971.

Scratchy and fading signal since old radios can't lock on since they're analog.
I really don't care because I didn't build the car to listen to music. Listening to the engine is more fun.   :2cents:

Here's the place I bought my repro speakers from.

I am using 6x9 Pioneer speakers but mounted mine directly under the package tray. I think they came both ways from the factory but I think it should be under the package tray.
