My friend's Mod Cuda
« on: June 22, 2005 - 03:32:47 PM »
A friend of mine spent years on this car, and it truly is an amazing piece.  Just thought I'd show you some pictures.  I went to see him over Memorial Day weekend, and he showed it to me.  It was in an enclosed trailer, so I couldn't get a great view of the car; however, I took pictures of a photo album he has of the car.  It's a '70 'Cuda 340 with a '72-4 grille in it built on a Petty racing chassis.  Lots of blood, sweat and tears in this one.

Don't be mean to me, but I love the white on one side, and it blends to red on the other.  :grinyes:  That is a seriously nice paint job.

MEK, There was serious planning in the paint work.  The measuring, the order in which everything was painted, etc was quite tedious.  There are no stickers on the car...everything you see in red and white is paint.  He initially planned on driving this car, but after all of the work, he decided to just make it a showcar.  He has a few other cars he toys around in.

Here are some more pics, including one pic of the chassis he began with.  And some fixed pics, so it's no longer parked on its side.  Smartarses!!

I may be going to visit him again later in July.  If so, I'll try to get pics of it while out of the trailer.

OK, so fixing the pics didn't work!  Forgive me for my lousy picture editing skills.

That's one wild 70's paint scheme. I feel like I'm back at Tulsa International Raceway and it's 1972 all over again. The nostalgia thing is really kicking in again. A friend of mine had a Herb McCandless 70 Cuda that looked a lot like that.
Tell him to get it out of the trailer and drive the hell out of it. If it breaks, fix it, if the paint gets scratched, fix it...but just do the right thing and drive it!!!  He'll be the envy of the every Mopar nut around.
