Tighten Side Mirror Loose Glass?
« on: August 30, 2016 - 05:36:33 PM »
Is there any way to tighten the glass (mirror) on the side mirrors?  My OE passenger side mirror still has good chrome but the damn mirror is loose and doesn't stay where set.  Is there anyway to fix this?  Or possibly replace just the glass?

As usual, thanks to your feedback in advance.

Reach in there with a tube of epoxy or silicon and blob some in there, set the mirror EXACTLY where you want it and wait... :icon16:

When you remove the two screws that hold the mirror in the housing this is what you will find.... pic #1   After you remove the mirror itself (I was lucky and a heat gun was all I needed) you will find this.... pic #2   Then you will find two rivets holding the metal strap.....  pic#3    I drill them out and replaced them with two small bolts/nuts that I had to use a dremel grinder to smooth the bolt heads down just enough to not interfere with the mirror.  Fasten the bracket back into the housing before replacing the mirror itself.  I cleaned everything really good and used lots of silicone that I let setup a little bit to glue the mirror back into place.
