The # on the coin is the last two digits of the part number. 12 refers to early 1970 E-body 318,340 and 383. No skid plate.

1970 V and R codes (Hemi and 440 six pack) got a skid plate on the bottom of the K member.  Hemi has a special K member (14 or 76 stamped coin) and V codes were a standard V8 K member with skid plate (77 or 74 stamped coin).  T/A & AAR received a non skid plate K member (like all of the K members) with a coin stamp of 52 (also used in 318, 340, & 383's).

Thanks! but are you saying a small block and big block k member is the same in all non V and R and TA coded cars?
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

To simplify...YES Big block and Small block can use the same K member. Hemi and six cylinder can not. :2cents:

Looked at a '68 Barracuda Formula S 340 last month and the seller mentioned something about a "washer" on the k-member but then couldn't find it. "Washer", "coin", the same thing I suppose. So where on the k-member is this "coin" typically attached? Thanks.
