Painting a 73 grill
« on: October 08, 2016 - 09:00:52 AM »
Hey all, I'm doing a few side projects with my Challenger and one of them involves painting the grill. It is currently argent but would like to make it black rallye style. Would Eastwood's trim black be a correct paint to use for this? Also what prep should I do before painting besides the obvious of using grease remover.

From what I gather the black for 73 Challenger grill should be semi-gloss. SEM Trim Black has been suggested...don't know about Eastwood's
The OE grills were molded in black plastic

Clean clean clean. Then SEM adhesion promotor per the directions on the can. Followed by a couple light coats of SEM trim black. When that's dry, mask off the front lip and spray silver. I used rallye wheel paint silver.
