727a kickdown linkage / Lokar Kit vs current z-bar

Hi Friends-
Looking at doing a linkage swap as I just installed my holley 3310. I've noticed that the WOT throttle position for the holley leaves some play in the lenght of the z-bar adjustment and figure that I could sort that out with a lokar kit. I have NO IDEA if the car shifts correctly / crisply given I've never driven another 383/727a combo... Don't know if i'm missing out!
Anybody use one and if so, which model and is it worth the effort to set-up?

Lokar is easy to install and make adjustments. It also cleans up the look on top of your engine.

I used on one a 64 Polara I built and it worked fine. The problem these days is that you don't know if you have all the correct pieces to the linkage or not.

I used a cable kit from Bouchillon Performance. It functions fine but the carb bracket is pretty fugly looking. Maybe the Lokar kit is more attractive? I actually like the look of the factory setup. There is a special procedure to take out all the slack in the system. No need to spend money if you don't have to if it's just and adjustment problem.

They show you how to properly adjust the linkage about half way through this video. It's a good video if you want to watch it all the way through though.

at 13:11 they refer to the "special tool" to do adjustment. I have no idea what that is called or where to find one.

They show a picture of the tool. It's just a spring and bracket that hold the trans lever all the way forward while you adjust the linkage. You don't need it. You can hold it forward with one hand and adjust with the other...or you can block the lever forward somehow.

Awesome - Will have a buddy hold that forward and drink a beer from a straw while I make the adjustment.

Another thought is maybe a bonyard trip to find a kick down cable and hardware from a v6 or v8 Magnum in early 90s daks, trucks and vans. It is probably ugly, and I don't know how adjustable or adaptable it is, but it would be a cheap buy
