New style radio
« on: September 20, 2016 - 07:10:43 AM »
I would like to install a new radio in my 73 challenger. The radio was missing when I bought the car. Do I need to make a plate to cover the area where the old radio was and cut out an opening for the new unit? Or does anyone know where I can get a kit to install the new radio without making a mounting plate?  Thanks

Places like Car Toys/Best Buy sell radio units with mounting plates.  It is simply a matter of what you want in your radio system, measure and and if there is space then you need a cover.  You can keep it as simple as a radio and speakers, or add subs, amps, etc.  The more you add the more you need to accomidate for the draw of power.

Most any single-din unit will fit.. I'd recommend staying away from motorized opening models
Put mine in from the back..no cutting required http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=21379.0
