This is to let ya's know i've decided to sell my 73 Challenger. The car plus a number of parts i've accumulated over the past 2 1/2 years go as a package deal. I'm asking $6500 for all and posting here before advertising locally in central Alabama (i live in Montgomery). Here are some pictures as well as a list of what goes with her. I'd like to finish and someday drive her but that's not likely so here goes.
I do have the fins for both fenders. They and the gas cap are from my first Challenger, a 73 Rallye in the same color combo this one came with originally. That's the reason i first got it. I spoke briefly with a previous owner who told me he built the engine currently in it "a 73 318 block with headers, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, X-heads and Purple Shaft cam". There was a Holley 600 on it as well. Definitely not a numbers matching car. I've had the 727 trans rebuilt, installed correct pulleys for it's current non-air status, a new fuel system from sending unit to carb (now an Edelbrock Performer), new Y1 engine wiring harness, coil, voltage regulator, control module, and new tires. Sheetmetal-wise it needs the pass. side inner fender replaced (replacement goes with the car). As well as those pieces, i have a very nice header panel that goes also. The trunk does have pinholes and a rusted area that prevents one of the four screws that hold the filler-neck-to-trunk floor seal from attaching. The roof at the front windshield looks like someone used pliers and silicone to squeeze the trim together to prevent leaks; i have replacement windshield trim for the damaged pieces. On top it appears as if some softballs were dropped on it. It's not serious but i want to mention the bad points up front to you all. Here's what is on the fender tag...

My plans were for this to be a nice driver quality 73 Challenger although i wanted new items when possible for the important areas such as fuel and electric; the only deviation from stock was to be the T/A style spoiler. This is an AC car originally although all the AC underhood iems are missing. It was like that when i got it. It also appears as though someone tried using the radiator support as a tow point - this is why i've basically purchased a complete group of parts including the grille support, header panel, and font bumper brackets in good straight shape to replace these pieces. I do have the console that was in the car when i bought it. The console door is a green one that had been painted black on the outside.
I have no doubts about the tranny as it was freshly rebuilt in June '03 and i've put just over a hundred miles on the Challenger since. The engine appears to feel strong once it gets to about 2500 rpm. The previous owner i had spoken with said he built the engine sometime during 2000 - i only have his words from that one conversation with him (I bought this Challenger in April '03). It seems that the "Purple Shaft" cam has a power band that starts in the low 2000 rpm range and the Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold begins around 1500 rpm. If true then a torque converter with a stall speed to match the cam is needed and was to have been my next step on this car, followed by brakes. I've not driven at sustained highway speeds yet since the brakes haven't been addressed but the few times i've reached the power band, it did feel strong. I've checked the numbers and the block is definitely a 73 318. I drive the car only on weekends and only for short distances (5 -10 miles round trip at a time) due to my uncertainty about the brakes.
