New dash not secure
« on: October 27, 2016 - 03:24:54 AM »
I bought a Cuda and the dash looked new.  After a year of owning and driving the Cuda I noticed the pad isnt tight near the windshield and near one of the speakers.  Looks loose or a little wavy.  Not sure how to explain the issue besides it seems not secure and tight in a few places.

I live near "just dashes"  They want $1100 to redo mine and said I should try to sell mine, find a used cracked one as they would have to completely tear down mine even though it looks good and I would rather not drop another grand.

Any suggestions?  The dash is coming out as the car is being media blasted and painted this winter.  Did I get a crappy dash pad?  Is there a way to better secure it?  How about some strong glue?

I hope this made sense?  I would like to repair it, but maybe I just need a new one?  I plan to keep the car for a long time and my friends dash from "just dashes" looks nice and firm and tight.

Thanks!!!

It sounds like a previous owner put on a dash pad cover and didn't get it installed well.  :dunno:

It could be missing a few nuts that attach the pad to the frame... Or it could be blown motor is correct & it's just a cover....  If your tearing the car apart it will become quite clear when the dash frame comes out.....

That's my first thought as well.  There are dash "caps" that install over the top of the original dash.  I think you are supposed to glue them down.  Yours might have come unglued.  If you post a picture of the VIN plate area, it should be easy to see if there is a cap over the original dash.

I got my dash pad from Roseville back in 11 or 12.  I'm not sure if they are still selling the same brand now or not.
