Positive battery cable
« on: November 18, 2016 - 07:38:49 PM »
Looking for some clarification on a positive battery cable for 70 Challenger RT big block (non hemi). The pictures of the cables have an extra connector not found in my FSM electrical diagram. As I look at the cable, I see the connection to the battery relay post and the battery post on the starter.  There is another connector on the positive cable near the starter connector that I can not figure out where it goes. The FSM shows S5-12BR coming from the starter solenoid to the starter relay that appears independent of the positive cable.

Here is what I'm looking at. http://www.megapartsusa.com/proddetail.asp?prod=102%2DBC002P%2DE&cat=404

Need some guidance. It's the black forked connector that has me puzzled. Thanks.

The third wire goes to the starter relay. From the relay, it goes to the molded connector at the starter.

That's an expensive cable. Check a Chrysler dealer for a cable. My small block Challenger cable was around $30 from Chrysler. It wasn't a generic cable from a parts store.

I try the dealer thanks. So the forked shaped one also goes to the starter relay?  I know one goes to the battery post on the relay. My current cable is generic and does not have that third wire. The goal is to get an oem cable.

I think that is a fit all year and car cable, your number you mentioned matches the FSM only showing two wires, starter and relay.
OK to have an extra wire to tie into for power , I would think.

The price difference is because the one you found at MEGA Parts is concourse correct, where as the one at VANS is a generic one. Big difference in the details equates to a big difference in price. Both have their place in the market. :2cents:
