I had a carb stud stuck in my intake manifold that I wanted to remove, but it was proving to be very stubborn.   I came across the YouTube video below that turned out to be helpful in keeping me from snapping the stud.  Even with the addition of the wax, my attempt to remove the stud by "double nutting" didn't work because I was using general duty 5/16" nuts.   The threads on the nuts stripped when snugging them together.   I didn't want to waste the time tracking down a set of Grade 8 nuts that would've worked better, so I used a pipe wrench instead to remove the stud. 

It was a small moment of joy when the stud started to turn out rather than twist.

Thats amazing, did not know wax would work like that, had a bolt stuck in my 340 head, tried everything with no luck, had to leave it to a machine shop that charged me 150 to fix it. Thanks for sharing.

                Heat always works for me, never used wax.

Ya, wax is an oil, and penetrates a little, just like WD-40.
But I think the main reason the things are coming out is
 the hot base metal expands, and that relaxes the grip on the stud.
After heating, I would ice cube the stud, and it should come out easier.

also, touching the stud with the wax cools the stud as well.

so I think temp differentials between the two metal components is more of a factor.

I use freeze spray to find problems in electronics, circuitboards and such, that would probably work on the bolt also.

                              Just heat (torch ) always works for me.

yep, though scientifically, water/ice has the best heat removal capability of any compound.
something to do with latent heat of vaporization.

This picture shows the end of the carb stud that was stuck in the manifold.   Except for the top of the lower threaded area, the threads were pretty clean once I got it out.   I'm not sure how well it can be seen in the picture but there's actually a little shine to the threads that is either a really thin film of wax that wicked in or some of the WD-40 from previous removal attempts.   Either way, this was a bugger to get loose and I'm glad it came out without snapping.

Gonna remove a brass T coupler from my compressor, its stuck, looks like its glued in there also, I see some kind of hard, epoxy like material just above the threads, is that any common sealer they use on compressor tanks? Gonna try heat to see if it dissolves. Very bad if I break it, then I have to drill it out and maybe ruin the threads and get metal debris in the tank.

It's probably just pipe dope, the liquid alternative to teflon tape. You should be able to heat it, tighten just a hair, and then back it out.
