Help with engine ID

This is for sale about 100 miles from me, and the guy listed it as a 72 340. Is that what it looks like?

Look at casting on both sides of block

I will have him send me pictures of the numbers, but what is the round canister like item between manifold and intake on the back left?

Not sure what you are asking.  Do you mean the round item between the Carb and valve cover in the back left?   If so that is the vacuum secondary diaphragm.
