« on: October 26, 2016 - 05:22:27 AM »
Hello to all,

I have problems with my manual steering because when I turn the steering wheel to the left the wheels don't turn immediately to the left need more turn of the steering wheel to start the wheels turn....

I don't know if exist a manual steering but with electric assist because the conversion from manual to power steering is difficult and expensive right??

excuse my poor English

there is an adjustment screw on the top of the steering box  with the wheels centered  loosen the locknut & tighten the screw a little  if you go too tight it will be hard to steer over the center , this will remove the play .
also check the steering coupler where it connects the the steering box , if the "shoes" are inserted incorrectly the coupler the steering steering shaft will rotate before moving the coupler attached to the steering box

If it's only when you turn left, it may not be the internal gears of the steering box.

How old are the steering components? I would check to see if there's any excess play in the tie rods, pitman and idler arms, steering coupler etc. You should also check to make sure that the steering box itself isn't moving around, the bolts that hold the steering box in can loosen up, and while it's not as big of a problem on E-bodies I have seen the welds on the steering box mounts crack at the K member and allow the steering box to move around when turned.
