Several years ago, when I joined C-C, I followed the calendar contest with great excitement. As many of you know, I’m a photographer, and the calendar combined two great passions. When Dan became too busy to continue to run the contest, I volunteered to take over, and I’ve enjoyed every year (5, I think, but I’ve lost count). Like Dan, I now have a lot of things in my life that are demanding my time. I hope that my car will be back from Tony’s shop soon, so I’ll be in reassembly. I’m marketing my photography to galleries, and writing some screenplays. I’m getting married in September. And, as has been far too often the case for me, I’m looking for a job again. All this is a long-winded way of saying “I need someone to take over.”
Judy’s been printing the calendar far longer than I’ve been running the contest, and she is also a skilled photographer. At the same time, she is also facing some new challenges. This is a slightly shorter way of saying that Judy needs someone to take over as well.
2016 will be our last year (for the 2017 calendar). We’re soliciting volunteers to take the calendar mantle. This can mean a lot of things. There are basically two roles that need to be filled: one is administrative (tracking submissions, organizing the voting, maintaining records) and the other is more creative (making sure that the submissions meet required quality, minor editing and resizing). But those roles can be divvied up in any way that’s convenient.
If you’re interested in providing any calendar support shoot me an e-mail and I’ll go into some more detail and what I think is required, at least for how we run things, and you can tell me if you’re interested in going forward. If you are, we’ll involve you with this year so you can get a feel for how it works.
It’s been a fun ride, but it’s time for us to move on
Who wants to step up?
