Screw looks long and the wrong thread. I thought it had a machine style thread and was completely flat not a convex shaped head.

I agree it's the wrong screw, and if it's too long it will push against the vertical rod stopping it's ability to function :2cents:

I did try a different screw, but even with no screw as soon as the t handle is slide down to have the hole line, up something binds and prevents the button on handle from moving in and out freely. so I ordered another new T handle hoping it solves this button issue.

so I found a used T handle from a 1970 barracuda, slide it on, fits differently and functions correctly. hoping the new one on the way, will be the same when it arrives.

70 Barracudas never had "T" handle shifters.....but we get your point
