I was wondering if 1971 Challenger Convertible was ever offered with the "Black, Orange And Red Cloth / Black Vinyl" Upholstery.
I have been looking everywhere on the internet, and only find where rear seat is offered for Hardtop, - not Convertible.

I want to upgrade my black vinyl upholstery with the Orange-Red Cloth/Black Vinyl.

Any useful feedback highly appreciated.

I think he means this interior ?

I don't see why it wouldn't be available in the convertible  :dunno:

Yes "anlauto", that´s the one I talking about

I think this one match the hemi orange color of the exterior perfectly  :)

I have spoke to Legendary, they do not have it for the Convertible version (the rear seat)...but might custom made ???

But do you know if this color combination was a factory option for Convertible version ?
Would be my first choice to pick if I was standing in a Chrysler dealer´s showroom in 1971  :)

Though I've seen a couple of ragtops with cloth interiors, the Color & Trim selectors and data books show them as only available on coupes and hardtops. Can't remember if I've seen a fender tag or broadcast sheet to back up the car.

That's really interesting.  Now that I think of it, I've seen many E body verts over the years but can't recall any with cloth seats.  I've always thought, if I could go back in the way-back machine and check one option on my Challenger vert that would make it better, it would have been cloth insert seats.  Getting in the car after it's been sitting in the sun makes it like sitting on a frying pan!  :eek4:  cloth would be much more comfortable.
It could have been one of those situations where a customer could get that if they insisted on it, but it wasn't a recommended or advertised option on verts.
I remember a few years ago a guy was admiring my car at a local cruise, and told me he still bore a grudge against Mr Norms because he'd ordered a purple Challenger convertible from Grand Spaulding Dodge after returning from the service.  He wanted the front bench seat option with the folding center armrest, because he wanted to be able to have his girlfriend snuggle up to him while they were out cruising in his car.
They made him put a $500 deposit down, but before his car was delivered, he got laid off from his job, so went in to the dealer to cancel his car order.  He said Mr. Norm told him it was too late to cancel, the car was already being built, it was going to be hard to sell after it got shipped to him, so therefore, he was not going to return the deposit.
The guy felt ripped off, and I don't blame him.  But since he was told his special ordered car was built or being built, he's always wondered what happened to it.
The split bench seat option was not available in E body verts, but the guys story didn't sound made up, I believe it was true.
So that is further evidence that options could be ordered sometimes even if they weren't supposed to be available.

I believe such story, i.e. when something is ordered when not advertised for specific model (such a Convertible).

Anyhow, I contacted Legandary regarding the upholstery, and it can be made (custom made) for the cost of ca. $ 1400, and I need to send them my current rear seat cover for measurements, - the negative part is that the seat cover is only 2 years old and it will probably be ripped apart for measurements.

I assume they didn't want to have to deal with it when some clown left the top down in the rain.

And vinyl seats are a whole lot easier to clean seagull crap off of after a day at the beach with your convertible also!  :roflsmiley:
