Buckets vs. Bench - pro's and con's
« on: November 23, 2016 - 11:29:06 AM »
Hello gang,
I'm planning my '74 cuda project and debating the pro's and con's of buckets vs. bench seats.  Car is a shell at this point and going resto-mod, so not concerned about originality as much as comfort and practicality.  I've done a-body projects in both bucket and bench, and felt that the bench seat sat higher and was more comfortable than the buckets.  Plus it was nicer for cruising with my wife or grandkids.  So I'm wondering how e-body bench seats sit or ride different from buckets - would like to hear from someone who's had both?  Thanks,
Bill

Since the bench uses the same seat back & the bottom is basically a pair of buckets with a filler I don't see how seating position would be much different... But being able to sit closer together has it's good points...... Or bad points depending on how well you & your girl are getting along...

Thanks for the input guys!  Seems like staying with buckets makes more sense in this case - doesn't require swapping out floor shift, gives more seat cover options (fewer bench seat cover choices available, unless you do custom), and buckets/console probably give a better resale value as most people prefer them.  And I can adjust bucket seat height with spacers.  I do like the bench seat, maybe the next project?
