It's always a sad time for me in fall here northwest of Chicago, as I have to winterize and put away my Challenger fleet until spring.
Last one to be put to bed every year is my '09 R/T Classic. You never know about the weather here in December, sometimes it is horrible, bitter cold and snowing every day. Other years like the last 2, it's been fairly nice. So I've drove the '09 some until around Xmas in recent years.
I guess I was a bit optimistic this year, as last Sunday we got about 8" of wet crappy snow! Then it got real cold.
Watching the forecasts all week they were talking about chances for another big snow this weekend followed by another even colder arctic cold blast.
So the car is sitting in the garage needing a crankcase full of fresh Mobil 1 and a dollop of Seafoam and a top off of the fuel tank, to be ready for it's winter nap, and no idea when the weather will be dry and warm enough to do those chores.
It was dry but in the low 20s today with the snow not forecast to start until later in the afternoon. I had no desire to be outside changing oil in the cold, or at least sunny so it would feel warmer, but did it anyway! Then I put some Seafoam in the tank and went to the Shell station for gas.
As I got back home in the driveway, I noticed some snow flurries on the windshield. Pulled in the garage and did a few odds and ends in the garage, headed outside and it's starting to snow!
In by the bell, barely, but made it!
Now if my fingers will warm up...
Monday I'll call State Farm and suspend all but my comprehensive insurance, and then I will get a calendar out and start marking the days off until spring... I hate winter!!
