Got a new daily driver
« on: July 03, 2005 - 01:44:38 PM »
I picked up another car for a daily driver because I have sombody that is buying my camaro.  Its an 86 Ramcharger SE.  It has a 360 in it and an auto.  The truck is very clean and has very little rust.  Rare for a 20 yo NY truck.  It runs pretty good and just needs a little bit of mechanical work suck as a tune up and it has a vibration over 50 mph.  And I picked it up for the grand total of 800 dollars.  Has anybody here had one and any thoughts on them?

I cant wait till I start driving it.  I'll register it in a few days.  Is the 360 for 86 any good or is it a boat anchor?

I used to own one, and still think they have some of the best body lines of any of those types of trucks.
As for your vibration, have your tires rebalanced and check your U joints. The truck looks like it's in great shape and ya can't beat that price.

Problems I had with mine...at around about 90,000-100,000 miles the front and rear axles had enough. So I installed 4.56 posi front AND rear. It really moved pretty good after that with 36 inch tall tires.
Also the support on the drivers seat broke, but I think that's just my luck  :dontknow:
Other than that it was a great Truck and I wish I never sold it, especially to a teenager who beat the truck half to death by jumping it!!! The 318 motor blew up at around 140,000
It probably would have gone longer if he wouldn't have floored it everywhere, always trying to redline it...

I found a pic of my old Ram Charger, sorry it's a bit grainy
