Input for a high horsepower engine block
« on: December 26, 2016 - 11:29:33 AM »
A friend of mine is looking to upgrade his Mopar small block engine. He wants a block to handle over 1,000 HP. What are your suggestions?  I looked into the R3 already but he wants to see if there are other options. Thanks

Pretty much anything he can find these days that wasn't assembly line. Not much out there from what I understand.

I agree, there isn't much out there for Mopars.

As HP increases, usually reliability inversely decreases.

Why so much HP? Want a drag car for the track?

Check out Sonny's hemi headed monster motors. http://www.sonnysracingengines.com/street-engines/sar-805-hemispherical-headed-pump-gas-engine-1350-hp

That is impressive but wow the cost. If I won the lottery maybe but I'm not holding my breath for that to happen.

Food for thought:

But what you should shoot for is building a motor capable of ~700hp and then using a turbo or blower to get you there. This article went over the top with an insane turbo and use of an intercooler (you cannot have ice at hand all the time) so I wouldn't expect that all the time.

I would suggest establishing a budget and then determining what it will buy you :)
