Ran into a snag. Where should I pry to remove this assembly. Is the fan attached permanently to the pulley?
How should I proceed. Nothing wants to dislodge?
EDIT. was able to pry. Fan assembly was kind of pressed on to the WP hub.
It's been awhile since I've done this, but If I can remember correctly, this is what I had to do.
The fan needs to come off to get clearence to pull and replace the pump due to the radiator being in. But the fan itself is held on by 4 long bolts that also hold the fan spacer and pully on the water pump. So you may not have enough clearence to even get the bolts out due to the rad being in. So to eliminate a bunch of headaches....
Drain the rad and take the hoses off. You want to replace the clamps to non OEM clamps anyway because OEM tends to leak. And you need to drain the coolent anyway to get the pump out.
Loosen the alternator and remove the belt.
Unbolt the fan shroud and pull it back over the fan towards the back of the car.
Remove the radiator. Remove the fan shroud. Remove the 4 long bolts that hold the fan and pulley on and remove the fan, spacer and pulley.
Remove the water pump bolts and pry the pump out.
Seems like a lot of work but it's easier than hitting roadblocks.
