71 cuda gas pedal position?
« on: January 13, 2017 - 05:59:20 PM »
I have an automatic car with a console.   I have replaced my throttle cable with a Lokar setup and don't recall how the pedal sat before.  Ideas?

Not really sure what you are asking here, but, adjust the throttle linkage so when the carb is fully 'wide open', the pedal can't go any further. So you don't 'torque' the throttle plates, when they can't open any further.

The Lokar cable was an insanely long cable.   I now have the ability to have my pedal float above the floorboard or sit on it.   I am wondering how I should go about setting it?

1- Do I go ahead and lay the pedal against the floorboard and then open the throttle all the way and leave 0 play between the two?

2- Do I make the gas pedal even with the brake pedal and then leave the throttle all the way closed and set it there?

Or like I told Courtney Force at the track one day, " Cut a hole in the floorboard so you can mash the gas pedal even further and go faster"

Option 1.
You just don't want the gas pedal ,say a half inch off the floor with the throttle plates already fully open. I f you have that situation, you are going to try to mash the pedal to the floor but the throttle plate shaft can't turn anymore. So it starts to bend.
