Clutch Switch - Manual Conversion w/Hyd Clutch
« on: January 21, 2017 - 09:50:11 AM »
I am doing a manual conversion and am curious what others are using for a clutch switch - mechanical or hydraulic?

If mechanical, are you using a factory switch, or did you rig up a brake switch? Pictures?

I need the input for my starter relay as well as flatshifting.

Made up a bracket to hold a micro switch in place.

Thanks. Does the switch only actuate when the clutch is fully depressed, or once the pedal moves from its resting position?

Since the function of the switch is to make sure the clutch is fully released when starting the car it makes sense that the pedal needs to be fully depressed... lots of ways to do it,

Fully depressed, there is some wiggle room but not enough to detect when it moves.  For that, the bracket would need to be modified.

Agree, but for this application, if your foot is on the clutch, I'm happy to crank it over. I need the switch to trigger as the pedal begins to move for the flat-shift, otherwise the clutch will slip during WOT shifts.

Just looking to see what others have done.

Not sure I follow?  I'm guessing your gonna use the clutch switch as an input to the PCM to momentarily kill the engine on WOT shifts?

Cut fuel, yes. It's for a "no lift shift", "shift cut" function. The clutch switch is also the same input for the 2step rev limiter as well as the starter relay. It stays busy.

Sounds like you should have two switches on the clutch, home & max travel....

Old school was stab & grab...Don't miss unless you want to dump $$$

Even I am confused with what you need....      you need a clutch switch for a safety interlock (allowing the engine to crank when the pedal is depressed) but what exactly do you need the other switch for?  (shift cut) ?  Do you need a input while the pedal is NOT depressed at all?

Just looking for switch placement with a hydraulic clutch/auto conversion setup.

Not really looking for an electrical design review, I have that covered.
