Is the 3310 showing correct float levels or was it pumping gas into the carb from a float problem?

I know I had the floats set correctly given I used the method of rocking the car with the sight plugs open and barely anything sloshing out.   Would there be another reason?

a 3310 is calibrated a bit on the rich side from the factory as it was intended to be a performance carb used with a bit more cam that a stock engine...on the other hand, it really tends on how rich it actually is and what signs you have to come to that conclusion.  A smeel exhaust is not always a good sign...

But, I would guess the next most common factor would be a blown power valve, or a power valve with too high a vacuum rating so that (in either case) the PV is passing fuel when it should be closed.

I had a new PV 6.5#.   The Vac at idle in park is 15 so it's all good to use the 6.5.   Since that big backfire, I can't get the car moving.   The new BR shows up today so I'll hopefully have good new by this afternoon.

Did you get a reading with someone else when the car was running in the on position?

If it varied more than say 4+ " then your PV is most likely gone. It won't hurt to change it, just the time to do it.

depending on how old the carb is, it may have blowout protection. simple check ball installed in the vacuum passage.  :dunno:

As he said, the 3310 may not have backfire protection and the power valve is probably history..that's what often happens after a backfire.

Hey guys!  GREAT news... The NEW Ballast Resistor is the answer.   Upon pulling the old one, I saw that the screw between the two prongs was busted.   So when I got no reading in resistance, there was a good reason for that... HOO RAYYYY  :ylsuper:

A BIG THANK YOU to all of you for your time and effort.   Being 33  I had no idea what a ballast resistor does and how it can affect the car.    I still don't get it all the way but it sure can interrupt your spark while the car is in the ON position haha.    sincerely

THANK YOU ALL!!!!    :cooldancing: :worshippy :worshippy :worshippy
