Speedometer gear question
« on: January 28, 2017 - 03:34:52 PM »
I am going from a 3:55 to a 3;23 rear gear. What speedometer gear will I need? 727 torquflite with 255/60/15 tires. Second question, will I have fluid loss when I remove the cable and gear? Thanks.

Looking at the chart I think I need a 32 tooth. Where is a good place to purchase one? My tire dia 26.8. Please correct me if I am wrong. I would like to get the right on the first time.

Awesome, thanks for the link.
How much if any fluid will I lose when I remove the gear?

I did mine on the A833 and less than 1/4 cup came out but with the 727 I believe not much comes out but someone will chime in here.

A couple of cups...lessen it by raising the rear of the car as high as you can get it...    With a forward rake, there will be less than a cup

Why are you changing from 3:55 to 3:23?  :feedback:

I want a good highway gear. I have plenty of torque (over 600) for the 3:23 and I don't want to go to an overdrive. I am too old to be a stop light racer now. My 3:55 has a whine in it so it is a good time for a ratio change.
