    Cam Bolt Question With Pics

    Hey guys,

    As some of you know I installed the engine and trans yesterday which went great.  My question is concerning the UCA Cam bolts.  Do they look like they are installed correctly or should I move them slightly so the pressed on washer if on the other side?  Not coming through the engine bay side just rotated to the other side of the housing.

    Does that sound clear?  What I’m saying is do I push the bolt out slightly and rotate the washer to the other side?

    BTW – I’ve installed the Moog offset bushings if that matters.  Thanks

     :dunno: :clueless:  The cam bolts will be turned to where they need to be during the alignment.  It doesn't matter where they are right now.

    But I prefer to set them for maximum caster before the alignment so the alignment tech gets one extra reminder to dial in as much caster as he can.....

    You DO have the offset washers that go on the 'nut' end of the adjusting bolts, correct? You will need them for alignment!

    They have flats on the I.D. that correspond to the flats in the bolt's threaded end...

    Both ends of each of the adjustment bolts move the UCA IN or OUT as a pair...

    How do I set them for max caster.  Remember I did install the Moog offset bushings.  Thanks for your help.

    Looks like front is correct and back are opposite of what you want. The front bolts should force the a frame out, the rears should be all the way in. You want the top ball joint as far rearward (toward firewall) as you can get it. Therefor looking at the car from the side, a line drawn through the top and bottom joint would have the top leaning rearward. Hope that makes sense!

    the front bolt should be outward as far  as possible in the slot the rear  bolt should be inward as far as possible in the slot for max castor

    Don't tighten the bolts with the suspension hanging down.  Tighten them when the car is on the ground.  Otherwise you'll ruin the bushings.
