213 cylinder head question
« on: March 13, 2017 - 03:05:27 PM »
So, I found a set of cylinder heads on Craigslist advertised to be 452 heads for $100. Called the guy up and bought them. He also threw in a set of ARP big block connecting rod bolts. Took a quick look at them before I tossed them in my trunk and took them home. Looked almost unused. Much to my surprise when I got home I noticed that it was a miss-matched pair, one a 452 head and the other a 213 head. Can anybody tell me what the difference is between them? I know the 213 head is a motor home head but other than that what's the difference? The only thing I could find was someone on another site said the 213 was the same as the 452 with the only difference being more cooling in the area of the spark plugs. Please mopar gurus, help a brother out!

numbers on the web look same for both heads.

maybe flow numbers or strength are different.

check internal dimensions of ports.

you could measure combustion chamber volume on each head too.

What neck of the woods are you in? I have a set of 452's taking up space in the shed from a 400 teardown a couple years ago. From what I remember, one head looked kinda rough. If you want them they're yours free and I would happy to be rid of 'em. I can't guarantee they're any good though, I bought the engine they came off of for 100bucks because the guy was going to scrap it...

I'll grab 'em out of the shed after work today and probably clean them up and look them over to make sure they aren't junk. If I can get the darned camera figured out I'll try to post some pics on here so you can decide if its worth driving 3 hours, lol.

I took some pictures, but I can't get this doggone camera to cooperate. These heads are pretty grubby. Both heads have an exhaust stud busted off in them, somebody knocked a chunk out of the valve cover rail on one, and the other has a valve cover bolt twisted off in it. They may be more trouble than they're worth, (and to be honest it probably wouldn't make a lick of difference if you ran that 213 head with the 452) but if you still want these heads, they're still free.

If you're still game, I can message you my address and we can pick a day to meet.
