Flasher upgrade for LED - Help me find it
« on: April 09, 2017 - 09:33:11 PM »
I've swapped out LED's for bulbs and found only the emergency flasher (swapped it for the ERL32FL or whatever).  I cannot find the one for the turn signals.   Can you help me figure where it should be?   I have a vintage air unit that came with the car and figure it's hiding up behind some hose line or something... Where'ish is it???

BTW on two E bodies so far the wires on the T/S flasher needed to be reversed to work properly... On a standard flash polarity doesn't matter, the Electronic LED flashers it does matter & on both E bodies I've converted the Hazard flashers worked but the turn signals didn't....  Just pop the wires out & move them to the other locations...

is the T/S flasher the same as the hazard light flasher?   I ask as I have had the ashtray out and only found the hazard flasher hanging down there.   I'm beginning to wonder if the T/S one is lost in space or something like on top of the Vintage Air unit.

Hazard flasher should be mounted on the side of the steering column support, T/S flasher should be on the side of the ashtray....

The flasher units look the same, but work for different purposes.  The flasher hanging there is the T/S one and when you look at the metal dash frame, you will see like a square where it is pressed into.  Its a press fit.

OK - I've only found the one that was next to the ashtray.  That handled my emergency flashers.   Perhaps that is my turnsignal and backward?  I'm hosed as I can't find the other one.   Perhaps the one next to the driver column could be sitting on top of the AM Radio?

Can you turn on the TS, lay under dash and listen where the clicking is coming from?

Turn signal only clicks when the car is running.   I'll try when it's a little quieter on my street.      I found the one by the cigarette liter but there is one by the steering column?   If so, does the line come off the connector that leaves the column?    IF so, what color wire etc?

Turn on 4 way flasher, that will make a sound too.  Car does not have to run.  On my 70, 4 way is by steering, T/S by ashtray.

OK!!!  I thought that there were 2 flashers -  Turns out that there are not 2.... at least on my car.   Which was re-wired.   I had only 1 flasher.

So - I initially had the one flasher swapped for the EF32RL flasher and the turn signals worked.   I needed to order a flasher polarity reverseal piece from Jegs... who sells a flasher with the reverse polarity adapter.  This made my turn signals and hazard flasher work.  WINNING... after buying 3 damn flashers.
