Pinion snubber... something missing ?

There is a 3 1/2" gap between the top of snubber and floor. Is there suppose to be something bolted in the hole that the snubber would hit ?

only thing missing are some sticky tires, 400 plus pounds of torque and a hard launch to reduce the gap!

IMO, All the stock snubber does is keep the yoke from digging a hole in the floorboard as you fly over dips in the road while weight is loaded in the back seat or trunk. You'll likely need an adjustable (and maybe floor reinforcement) to help control axle windup at the track.

The Mopar Preformance adjustable snubber was too tall to work on my car, I think they are for cars with Super Stock springs that have more arch. I made a snubber for mine with about an inch of clearance, so it would hit sooner and load the tires (slicks) harder without as much spring wrap.

Which rear end do you have?

I assume that 3 1/2" gap is with the car on it's tires, full of fuel, interior installed etc

In general what would be a good distance for a street driven car that is not drag raced?  I've got "flat" leaf springs to help with handling and I wonder if the pinion snubber bushing is too close on mine.  I remember the pinion snubber being a part of a metal plate that bolted to the top of the rear end, are there different height bushings?

Do you have a picture or link that show that?    Mine is so close now that when I have people in the back seat it bottoms out, fine with just me or a passenger in the front seat.
