I totally understand how the valves in the water valve can fail/ mess up, but I'm not sure if that completely explains why I'm getting what "feels" like vented hot air into the car while driving. (Nothing while I'm standing still of course)
I have no manual vents, so that's not the source. It's coming right out of the factory AC vents.

The way the A/C heater box is constructed any air entering past the fresh/recirc door (controls whether air to the HVAC enters from outside or inside the car) will always past through the A/C evaporator core & the heater core... There is no air allowed to bypass either core.... So if either core is at any temperature other that ambient it will effect the temperature of the air passing through it..... A/C evaporator is easy, push don't pump freon through it.. (turn off the compressor) Heater core well turning off the engine would stop the heat... But not so good for keeping the car moving.... So the heater water valve stops coolant flow through the heater core....Any leakage past the valve means heat in the passenger compartment.....
