Parking Brake Question
« on: April 09, 2017 - 07:30:44 PM »
Now that I have the entire instrument panel out, I going down the hit list and next is the parking brake light that never worked. So mechanically the switch is there on the E brake and seems to be mechanically working so I needed to convince myself which side of the bulb is not working.  If someone could validate my logic, I took an Ohm meter and with one end grounded to the frame and the other inside the bulb socket on the black wire ( actually I tried both) I step on the E brake looking for 0 ohms or close to it.  Nada!  so now if that logic seems valid which is my first question, my next is can someone point me to a vendor that supplies these switches or am I missing something in the debugging logic?-  It's a 73 Cuda.  Thanks in advance!!

Yes, both the brake warning and parking brake grounded out the other side of the bulb and therefore turn the light on - I believe....

Diving deeper into the wiring of the parking brake switch, I'm pretty confident that the switch works and according to the wiring for a 73 Cuda that wire should get connected to the other side of the bulb however in ohm-ing it out it would appear it is not connected at all to the bulb, in fact I physically traced the wire (instrument panel out) from the brake switch to back of the ash tray and then can't see where it goes. Does anyone have any experience with this parking brake circuit?? thanks!
