How do you determine the proper distance from the shaker seal to the hood and get proper seal without hurting the carb or hood by having it too close ? I have a 440 base plate which has a different drop than a 383 base plate so I can't use the front support. I don't know what the difference is between the two so that I could use that for a guide.
My drivers compartment gets hot and I've finally realized that the heat is coming from the shaker opening allowing heat from the engine compartment to get to the hood vents by the window. Yesterday I happen to stick my hand outside and felt hot air when the temps were in the 50's. I've had carpet out to lay dynamat and reflextic, had the heater and vent boxes out to redo seals, wrapped exhaust pipe under drivers area to insulate heat away from floorboards and now I find that the damn shaker isn't sealing like I thought it was and thats been the problem the whole frikkin time !!!
