AMD 1970 Cuda Front fenders fitment issues
« on: May 01, 2017 - 03:39:24 PM »
Hi
I am currently restoring a customers 1970 AAR Cuda.

The original front fenders were not usable due to severe rust damage.

I am currently fitting new AMD reproduction front fenders and having a problem with body lines. If I line up top body line into original door, mid centre belt line is fitting about 1/8-3/16" too high.
Plus body gap to door is very poor especially on drivers side.
Is this how these AMD fenders fit?

If so, is their a different brand of reproduction fenders that fit correctly or am I going to have to buy a pair of used good originals?

Feedback appreciated

I had the same problem with my challenger fender and wound up cutting up the new fender to repair the original fender.

Thanks Rich.
I installed original fenders on Cuda yesterday and they fit perfectly, hoever, being so rusted everywhere renders them unusable.

I cut and slice fenders and doors all the time to get nice body fit, however, the mid beltline body line being a quarter of an inch too high is something I cannot correct.

How do the doors fit to the quarters? Could the hinges be sagging and in need of new bushings that could possibly change the fit of the doors to fenders and quarters?  :dunno:

no 2 panels are alike. the longer the die has been in production the more issues the parts become.
