mine looks like that, we removed at least 8 from 3 different parts stores and all wrong

Yeah the two field wire style round back alternator was only in production from 69-72. The square back had a higher 60? amp output rating. The two field wire round back can be modified to use the Transpo regulator, just need to solder the blue wire to a stator lead. The square back uses ring terminals so it's a little easier to convert.
