Non-mopar cam question for towing
« on: June 15, 2017 - 02:12:00 PM »
Folks

Outside of my 71 Cuda, I have a chevy 350 I have had for years.

I need a cam recommendation for my 350.  I'm not cam smart guy, but I need a cam for towing.

I have 3 grinds in mind:

Cam #1
Duration at 050 inch Lift: 214 int./224 exh.
Advertised Duration: 288 int./298 exh.

Cam #2
Duration at 050 inch Lift: 224 int./234 exh.
Advertised Duration: 298 int./304 exh.

Cam #3
Duration at 050 inch Lift: 234 int./244 exh.
Advertised Duration: 303 int./313 exh.

Which of the above cams is the best for towing ?

Cam #1  looks best. What are the rest of the specs? Lift, LSA etc?

even #1 may be too much duration for towing?

72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"
