Valves and Springs
« on: June 11, 2017 - 03:52:42 AM »
Hi at all

I have buy a pair of j heads with 1.88 intake valves .
This heads I will perfom and optimize .
Optimize the combustion chambers to 62cc or 60cc for better  compression ,
port and polishing the Runners ( heads and intake manifold ) and I want to install 2.02 or the
Mopar Performance 2.08 intake Valves and the 1.65 exhaust valves .

My question is , how long can be the valves when I want install a camshaft with .502 intake Lift
and .511 exhaust Lift ( Comp Cams 20-230-4 )
Can I take Valves with Stock 4.980 / 4.970 in. Length or I need other one ?

How did you port / polish the runners ?

Thx for answer and help

72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

I would talk to Comp Cams about valve length, given their cam you want to use.
They probably will have you stick with stock valve lengths.
