Side windows
« on: July 05, 2005 - 12:41:40 PM »
One of the things to add to my 'todo' list is repair the driver and passenger side windows. When ever I close the doors on my 74 Chally and the window is rolled down it sounds like the dang window is going to fall out on the ground. The windows seem to roll up and down easily, maybe too easy. I already know the weather stripping that goes between the glass and door needs replaced, but what else keeps the window firmly inplace. I probably will have to wait and see excactly it all looks like after I pull off the door panels but was looking for a few ideas.
Thank again

One possibility...There are two L shaped brackets that have one end covered in a fuzzy material. They are bolted to the inside of the door near the top and rest against the glass. They act as guides and they keep the glass from rattling. If the fuzzy material is gone of if the bracket/s have fallen off it will rattle bad when the window is down and you shut the door. This is the part that usually scratches the glass.  Good luck.  BTW...R/T Specialties has a roller guide kit if you get the door apart and find worn out rollers.
