Hood hinge question.

When I open the hood on my 1970 gran coupe the hood drops back down about 2 inches then stays in place.  Need to know what the problem is:
Will I need to replace the springs.  The hinge mechanism.  Or replace hinge and spring as a complete unit ?

I purchased a new set from Year One. Spent a year trying to adjust the old hood mechanism to fit straight. Took 5 minutes with the new ones to get the lines back. 300 dollars or so. Was a bit pricey for a non speed part.

The springs hold it open. If it's sloppy in the pivot points then you need to get the hinges rebuilt or replaced . When the hood is closed does it move when you pull up or down from the back end?

Yes can pull up on drivers side and moves. Passenger side does not move as much.
Sounds like buy as a complete set. Correct ?
